LOS ANGELES, May 8 1995 -- Pradeep Kumar was appointed sous chef of
The Terrace in early 1995, and commissioned to develop a new cuisine
for its "Il Ristorante" concept. Prior to serving
in this position, Chef Kumar served as assistant to the sous chef
of La Chaumiere.
A native of New Delhi, India, Kumar initially received his training
in five select five-star hotels in New Delhi. He has also studied
at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New
York.
Specializing in Italian
Mediterranean and Indian cuisine thoughout his career, Pradeep has
impressive credentials which inlcude stints at such well-known establishments
as the Villa Cipriani Hotel in Venice, Ristorante di Tino Fontana
in Bergamo, Italy, and the CIGA Hotel in Milan. Kumar also served
as a sous chef at Casa Medici, located in New Delhi's Taj Mahal Hotel.

Kumar, who is fluent in English, Italian and Hindi, was selected in
1994 to participate in Westin Hotels & Resorts' International
Vegetarain Food Promotion, through which several of his recipes were
featured in the company's more than 70 hotels worldwide. His vegetarian
dishes are well known for their low calories and fat content, while
at the same time providing great richness in flavor and dining experience.
